Our artists are …

Highly talented teens who aspire toward creative careers, yet lack the knowledge of possible opportunities or pathways to pursue them. These students attend non-selective charter high schools in New Orleans, which offer basic or no studio visual art instruction.

Kendrik, Student Artist

Kendrik had no formal art instruction when we met him in 9th grade. He graduated high school with scholarships to Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Kendrik also won the 2nd District of Louisiana’s Congressional Art Competition and has shown his work in New Orleans’ Contemporary Art Center.

Donald comes from a family of artists, but also had no formal instruction when he began our classes. He worked hard to fine tune his drawing skills while broadening his experience with varying media, leading him to find a distinct voice and visual point of view. Donald won the New Orleans Camellia Club’s art competition in 2018 and is currently enrolled in the New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts (NOCCA) for his senior year.
